Petříčková, Alena ; Ferdan, Tomáš (referee) ; Gregor, Jiří (advisor)
Theoretical part of present study gives a comprehensive overview of the methods used for the disposal of biodegradable waste with emphasis placed on highly effective techniques. Composting process is studied in detail and machinery used is thoroughly described. Acquired information from extensive research was applied to create a model of composting plant. Operation manual for this specific model forms part of the study. Afterwards various decomposing scenarios are analyzed and their economic sustainability is evaluated.
Legislature of the waste disposal and utilization of biodegradable materials
Pešl, Milan ; Pěček, Jan (referee) ; Beňo, Zdeněk (advisor)
The aim of this work is to give information about the issue of legislation of disposal and reuse of biodegradable waste. Legislation in the field of bio-waste in the Czech Republic and the EU is grouped into various laws and guidelines which describe particular conditions of the dumping of wastes, their subsequent processing and reuse. In this work, the definition of BDW, its composition and the current state of dealing with this type of waste in the EU and the Czech Republic is mentioned. Different methods of processing biodegradable waste, which include incineration, composting and anaerobic digestion, their advantages and disadvantages are described in this work. There are also introduced examples of BDW in the EU and the Czech Republic there.
Circular economy using analysis of separated municipal waste
Plánková, Tereza ; Kropáč, Jiří (referee) ; Nevrlý, Vlastimír (advisor)
The bachelor thesis analyses the current state of waste management and presents legislation and changes in waste treatment. The ban on landfilling of usable waste from 2024 and the set recycling targets are the main reasons for analysing the production of the separated components. The thesis deals with revealing potential for increasing the material, or energy, recovery of waste. As a key waste stream, biodegradable waste has been identified due to its rapidly growing production for the future. Modelling of production dependence for territorial units was performed using statistical methods in STATISTICA software based on socio-economic factors. The resulting model for production determination was obtained by multidimensional regression analysis. Applying the model to individual waste producers will allow efficient planning of support assets from an economic and infrastructure point of view.
Waste-based renewable energy production
Strapko, Tibor ; Touš, Michal (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
Following diploma thesis deals with waste-based renewable energy production. Waste is a very heterogeneous mixture consisting of various materials with different origin. This can be either fossil or biogenic. The very substances with biogenic origin are considered renewable energy source with financial support from state. Therefore is nowadays tendency to develop a method, which can determine the biogenic waste ratio. The method, aside possible cheapest price and simplicity, should be also reliable and easy reproducible due to its usage. At the beginning, thesis focuses on the waste-to-energy facilities. Important part deals with legislative side of this topic. The reasons, why Czech Republic is behind with thermal waste treating are stated as well as Czech Republic’s obligations to European Union in the field of biodegradable municipal solid waste. Main part of thesis deals with different methods to determine biogenic waste ratio in municipal solid waste. Step by step are introduces 4 known methods, where especially sorting, balance and 14C methods are described closely. By each method are stated its major benefits and handicaps in case of using. Finally, the computational model, which is based upon balance methods equations, is introduced following with feasibility study of balance method for local conditions. The very end of the thesis brings comparison of each method results, general summary, where are results of this thesis stated and possible trends for future in this area of expertise, as well.
Design of equipment for thermo mechanical pre-treatment of biodegradable waste
Kolařík, Ivo ; Jedlička, Filip (referee) ; Beňo, Zdeněk (advisor)
The main objective of this master’s thesis is to develop design equipment for thermomechanical pre-treatment of biodegradable waste. An important aspect of the design is taking into account current legislation, sanitary conditions for determining the pre-treated biodegradable material, which also serves as a raw material for biogas production. So the device will be used to monitor the impact of thermomechanical pre-treatment of biodegradable waste for biogas recovery. The following describes the processes of anaerobic decomposition of biodegradable materials and technology, whose main task is intensification of anaerobic decomposition of organic materials. The theoretical work are given various methods of processing and utilization of biodegradable wastes, focusing on kitchen waste and sludge from sewage plants. The next section describes the various factors that may affect the stability of the process of biogas generation. This also results in yield and chemical composition of biogas. A key part of this master’s thesis is to develop technical documentation and an approximate calculation of the hot slurry.
Biogas technologies
Martanová, Iveta ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Beňo, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor's work deals with technology of conception and production of biogas from biodegradable waste. In the introductory part there is elaboration of biogas facts, the principle of biogas origin and the usage of biogas in practice. The main part is dedicated to individual technology of the biogas production. There are descriptions of technological equipment for gas producing and descriptions of individual methods of waste processing indicating their advantages and disadvantages.
Production of biogas as an automotive fuel from renewable materials
Frühbauer, Zdeněk ; Houdková, Lucie (referee) ; Dlabaja, Tomáš (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to specify and summarize possibilities of biogas production as a motor vehicle fuel by using the renewable energy sources. In the first part of the thesis there are the data concerning biogas, its production and chemical composition. An important part of the thesis is a description of current most used methods of cleaning which adjust biogas to quality of natural gas. The important part of this thesis is to introduce some of already working projects and to get knowledge about possibilities of making biogas from biologically decomposable material as a renewable energy source. The close of the thesis deals with energy, economy and ecological audit too and values biogas through all angles which decide about its using in larger size in the car industry.
Composting in the Czech Republic
Glombová, Pavla ; Horák, Marek (referee) ; Hluštík, Petr (advisor)
The aim of bachelor thesis is a description of the issue related to biological disposing of degradable waste by composting. It is concerned by the most important valid laws in this field, by technologies of composting and by the facilities used to dispose these waste – by composting facilities. In the practical part there is a compiled database of composting facilities in the Czech Republic, sorted by the regions. Their basic data are included (operator, address, website, contact information, capacity, used technology, amount of compost production, its price and utilization, accepted waste, used machinery and equipment, the year of commissioning, intensification).
Biogas plant design
Kocián, Oldřich ; Pěček, Jan (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on possibility of usage biologically decompostable wastes in the biogas plant. The first part of this thesis describes principal production of the manure gas and as well concrete biogas plants, where are shown different approaches and technologies. The main target of the thesis is based on biogas plant design for manipulation with biologically communal wastes from VUT v Brno and chosen parts of Brno. To the proper design of the biogas plant precede evaluation of accesible wastes from choosen localities. Since we consider wastes from households, the way of collection of those wastes is designed. The thesis also consider economic balance and assesment of the biogas plant. Investment costs are predicted, process costs are evaluated and as well profit from selling of the electric energy is consider, profits from charges for manipulation with wastes and profits from selling of compost.
Household fermentor design
Švec, Jan ; Jecha, David (referee) ; Houdková, Lucie (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to design a fermentation unit specially adjusted for household operating. Unit processes kitchen and garden biodegradable waste with requirements of low acquisition costs, operating costs and demands of service. Benefits of this unit are production of biogas, which will be utilized in household, and processed of biodegradable waste to nutritious manure. The first part of the work is aimed on description of anaerobic fermentation process and summary of operating conditions. The main part deals with potential of household and garden biodegradable waste for production of biogas and design of fermentation unit. Proposals for biogas utilization and economy of whole project are mentioned.
